Press and Roll Accessories

The anilox roll has always been referred to as the “heart” of the flexographic printing press. It is the integral part of the unique ink distribution system that separates flexographic from other printing methods. So, it is critical that your anilox roll is manufactured to perform consistently and reliably. The key to a superior anilox roll is its engraving. Praxair takes extensive measures to ensure precision throughout the engraving process.Having the proper cell volume is absolutely necessary for accurate color reproduction. Praxair can produce consistent cell volume, using the latest process measurement technologies. These include the WYKO interferometer microscope, a precision measurement system traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and the URMI II™ cell volume measurement system.Conversource is your authorized Praxair distributor. The Lamination Silencer/Tension control greatly reduces the noise generated by the unwinding of self-wound overlaminates. Noise levels reduced from 90 decibels to 75 decibels at a distance of 3 feet. (Test was conducted on a Mark Andy 2100 running 150 feet per minute with a 5” wide selfwound overlaminate. Ambient noise level without overlaminate recorded at 70 decibels.) In addition the unit stabilizes unwind pull and provides more consistent and controllable tension of the overlaminate. Also, it eliminates the “slapping” effect that is so common with selfwound overlaminates. Easily installed with bolts or “C” clamp and fits most narrow web presses. (C135)

Press Maintenance and Cleaning

Fiber washers are used to align rotary tooling between the bearing blocks. Available in all sizes. (C226)

Plastic (nylon) washers are used to align rotary tooling between the bearing blocks. Commonly used in conjunction with fiber washers (Item #C226 listed above), plastic washers are available in .0806” thickness and either .750” or 1” inside diameter. (C227)

Used in many situations when rotary diecutting. We stock pressure-sensitive foam in a variety of thicknesses. (C230)

Tack cloths are often used to remove dust and dirt from a moving web. Made of resin-impregnated cheese cloth, they can be clipped or taped to a crossbar, dragging against the web. Cloths are 20” x 16” and are available in a carton of 144. (G150)

A combination of brass and horsehair bristles makes this brush ideal for cleaning fine detail on flexographic printing plates. It is especially suited for difficult to clean plates with hard, dried ink. (C153)

Clean webs easily with the Polymag narrow web cleaning system. Using an innovative continuous contact system, the Polymag unit will remove particles of less than one micron in size. Requiring no electricity or compressed air, the Polymag cleaner takes only minutes to install on your narrow web label press. The Polymag system is available in three configurations, engineered for specific locations on the press. Polymag systems are available for all popular label presses.

Cutting and Mounting Tools

This innovative flexographic plate cutter gives straight, clean cuts every time with no exposed blades. Its design minimizes the risk of injury and remakes from bad cuts. Lift-arm mechanism allows the user to easily position plates for precision cutting. The Guide Razor Safety Flexographic Cutter is available in 16”, 32”, 50”, 64” and 86” models. An optional floor stand is available for most models.

The VersaMount 24 can accommodate a wide range of printing cylinder widths with repeat lengths up to 24”. The printing cylinder is securely positioned between two tapered centers, accepting a wide range of printing cylinder inside diameters without the need for adapters. A pivoting straight edge aids in drawing guide lines and cutting mounting tape.

A brayer is used to iron a printing plate firmly to the mounting tape. Available with hard or soft rubber roller. (C203)

Ideal for smoothing flexographic plates onto plate mounting tape. This is an aternative method to using a brayer, pictured above. (PAB-1)

Measurement and Control Tools

Calibrated Zahn equivalent viscosity cups are the ideal method to monitor the viscosity of inks and coatings. This cup has been improved and complies to the requirements of ASTM D 4212. Each cup is furnished with a table which permits conversion between efflux time in seconds to the nearest 1/10 second to viscosity in centistrokes. (C116)

Most water-based ink manufacturers recommend the use of a pH meter to monitor ink, in conjunction with viscosity measurement. Our Pocket pH Meter is microprocessor based and is accurate to +/- 0.2 pH, with a resolution of 0.1 pH. (C117)
